Join NCSC on a study tour to Tokyo, where we will look the latest trends and developments in retail. Retail is going through big changes globally. In Japan we will study several success stories and find inspiration to tackle those changes. Together with our local expert Peter Wik, we will be given a unique opportunity to learn about the Japanese market as well as be given a journey into the Japanese soul.

  • - Lunch with introduction to Japan
  • We start off with lunch, followed by an introduction to the Japanese retail and business market.
  • - Visit to Meiji Park and Sanctuary
  • In the afternoon we will visit Meiji Park with its famous sanctuary, where we will learn about the Japanese Shinto religion that permeates everything we will see and experience in Tokyo.
  • - Check in at the Tokyo Hilton
  • Tokyo Hilton is located in the Shinjuku district, conveniently located by the Shinjuku station, where over 3.5 million commuters passes daily.
  • - Dinner at a local restaurant in Shinjuku
  • - Isetan Department Store
  • In the morning we visit the iconic Isetan department store, which has the highest sales per day worldwide! The store is often first with showcasing new trends and products, in particular, the fashion and food floors are thought to be very trendsetting. The history of the department store began as early as 1886.
  • - Shinjuku "underground mall"
  • From Isetan we walk to Shinjuku metro station, where we visit an Underground mall, built around teenage fashion and restaurants.
  • - NEWoMan Galleria & Takashimaya Department Store
  • Our next stop will be the NEWoMan galleria, located by the Shinjuku Station. It is tailored towards the modern woman and offers quality fashion, restaurants, cafes, beauty and lifestyle brands. To serve users of the Shinjuku Station, they offer not only pharmacies, but licensed nurseries, as well as pediatric, gynecological, and other specialized clinics. Lunch will be served on the 14th floor of the Takashimaya Department Store, followed by an introduction to the Japanese F&B development scene.
  • - Omotesando Hills & Tokyu Plaza
  • After lunch we continue to Omotesando, nicknamed Tokyo's Champs Elysées. Here we visit designer stores with both Japanese and international brands as well as Omotesando Hills shopping center and Tokyu Plaza, which focuses a lot on design and architecture.
  • - Dinner at a local Izakaya restaurant
  • Izakayas are essentially Japanese taverns – drinking houses with a menu of small dishes for snacking while drinking. It literally means “stay sake shop” so traditionally this was a place where you could sit and drink on the premises.
  • - Ginza Six
  • - Mitsukoshi Department Store
  • - T-site
  • - 109 & Shibuya Stream
  • - AEON LakeTown
  • - OIOI
