The Socio-economic contribution of European Shopping Centers

This report was prepared and written by ICSC Research, the International Council of Shopping Centers.

This research report highlights the ongoing success, significance and contribution of the European shopping centre industry as it continues to embrace new technology and adapt to the changing needs and wants of consumers. The study emphasises the vital role that shopping centres play in the European economy and society in fostering development, commerce and growth, and at the same time, in fulfilling an important promotional and delivery role for local and international retailers. The report demonstrates continued productivity and competitiveness of the industry as the rise of sophisticated omni-channel retail strategies have shown conclusively that brick-and-mortar stores are an integral part of the consumer experience and are as relevant now as they ever have been.
