Every year Nordic Council of Shopping Centers celebrates the best in the shopping center industry, NCSC Nordic Awards. Four national winners competed being the best in the Nordics. The nominated centers were: Veturi in Finland, Metropol in Denmark, Erikslund in Sweden and Gulskogen in Norway. The winner 2014 is Gulskogen, in Drammen, Norway. Congratulations!
At the NCSC Annual Conference held in Oslo this year, May 15-16, the shopping center industry announced the best Nordic Shopping Center of the year. Congratulations to the winner Gulskogen! Last years winner Väla Center from Sweden handed over the challenge prize during the gala dinner at Hotel Bristol in Oslo.
The Nordic jurys motivation read as follows:
“The winning shopping centre has a well-assembled volume, with an efficient parking that is easy to understand, a well designed and welcoming entrance area – both outdoors and indoors.
Further this centre has a good master plan with anchors in the right positions. This project shows how you can vitalize a dated and worn down shopping centre as well as altering and strengthening its market position. The weaker sides of this centre are the design of the customer isles and the lack of integrated public functions. In a few years the centre has gone from being a sleepy centre, to becoming a modern and vital centre with a good shop mix, clear and straightforward marketing, yearly rising turn over and with a good positioning concerning public transports.
A highly contributing factor of the success of this shopping centre is the professional and enthusiastic staff that performs a teamwork out of the ordinary.
The jury of NCSC Nordic Award 2014 proudly presents this year’s winner: Gulskogen, Drammen, Norway”
